Water of Leith Apartment - Testimonials
rachel, Herefordshire, UK - 9th November 2009
The apartment is exceptionally well-equipped and everything worked! I'm sure this is because the owner actually uses the place himself regularly, so has equipped it to the standards he wants to live with, rather than (as often happens) second-rate goods! Things like the extensive crockery set (not just 2 mugs!) were most useful. The flat has its own balcony, which was lovely even if it was mostly too cold in late Oct to use it! The welcome from Rab before and upon arrival was most thoughtful and very friendly.

Flat was of a very comfotable size for two couples. All facilities were provided including a filter coffee maker, a first for anywhere we have stayed. It was freshly valeted and made up prior to our arrival. Away from city centre but with easy access. Variety of eating establishments to suit most tastes and wallet. A lovely little balcony with table and 4 chairs overlooking the water and first class pub / restaurant opposite. First class.

We visited during the festival and can recommend the military tattoo. The Royal Mile also has a great festival atmosphere with all the street performers.

The flat was very well prepared and presented to us by the caretaker. We had everything we needed. It was good value for money and we would recommend it and use it again.

Leith - well its not central Edinburgh but its still happening enough. Restaurants and cafes galore, and a really convenient M&S Simply Food at Ocean Terminal for those lazier, more relaxed nights back at the apartment!

Lots of restaurants and bars within minutes of the apartment. Ocean Terminal which is only 5 mins walk has a large selection of shops and has a large cinema complex.

The accomodation is outstanding, you need not look further. I join the eaelier reviewer to say the pictures do not do justice to the apartment, it is a lot more beautiful than the picture shows.

I live in the neighbourhood and used the apartment as extra accomodation during my wedding, hence I was doing tourism.

Our session with the manager, Rab, was all-inclusive...he gave us a tour of the apartment and explained the workings of all the appliances. The apartment was outstandingly clean and tidy, and the kitchen well-equipped. We were greeted at the door, which was "a good thing" since we had walked all the way from St. Andrew's Square with our wheeled luggage. A good walk, but long! We didn't know the bus system, having arrived from Belfast by coach via the Stena ferry line, so made our way up the Leith Walk. There was a local map in the apartment, very helpful to find our "greeting/cocktail party" before the big wedding. Thanks to the owner and to Rab for their caring approach to house-letting.

Leith is an intimate, delightful part of the coast. There is a Marks & Spencer for groceries only a five-minute walk away in the Ocean Terminal shopping complex. I found the food there to be fresh, unprocessed and fairly reasonable. There is even wine available! The pubs and restaurants were just a short walk from the flat. The 22 bus was available to us when we needed to go back to the center bus terminal to return to Belfast. Since the first run is from Ocean Terminal, we were able to pack all our bags on board without incident. (We left on Monday, and were settled in at rush hour, no cab needed!) Highly recommended for a convenient way to see the city. An all-day pass was only two pounds fifty, which gets you all over Edinburgh. We were busy with the wedding, so sight-seeing was minimal. But a walk from the Princes Street mall up a short hill took us to the Castle and to High Street. Amazing place. Fantastic views.

The apartment was very well equipped in a tasteful fashion - The owner had thought of everything in making provision for guests. The Rennie's Isle development was very peaceful. The apartment looks over some waterside bars, but the ambience was pleasant and relaxed rather than intrusive. We were staying there for family reasons rather than being on holiday as such, so the nearby facilities for shopping, banking etc were useful. We would certainly return on a future ocasion.

Edinburgh is, of course, a very interesting place to visit, but, having been born there, tourism was not my reason for visiting.

I booked this accomodation for my parents during their short stay in Edinburgh. The Water of Leith apartment was ideally situated along the waterfront close to the bars/restaurants and Ocean Terminal. As it was set back from the main road it was very quiet both day and night. The flat itself was in immaculate condition and presented to a very high standard. It had everything we could possibly need and my parents felt very comfortable and at home in the flat from the moment they arrived. The lounge/balcony benefitted from direct sunlight for most of the day which only added to flats pluspoints. On a final note the caretaker who met me on arrival was very thorough in his overview of the accomodation and couldn't have been more helpful. I would thoroughly recommend this flat as a place to stay in Edinburgh.
